Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Welcome to JMS Issue #2 of 2019. We appreciate the support of our readers from all around the world. Here are the contents of the current issue, which we hope you will enjoy.

Our Person of the Month is Dr. J. Sharkey, an anatomist from Ireland. He shares with our readers the important work he and his colleagues are doing to examine fascia and its role in body structure and function.

In the section Introducing Our New CMMPs, we proudly present five recent graduates of our Medical Massage Certification Program – Theresa Brumble, LMT from New Jersey, Mike Devo, LMT from Chicago, Deb Earp, LMT from Missouri, Steve Douglas Smith, LMT from Colorado and Misa McCue, LMT from Florida. These dedicated therapists devoted the time and effort to immerse themselves in Medical Massage science and clinical application. As a result, they have already witnessed the transformation of their practices and the profound changes they were able to make in the health of their patients.

With this issue, we start a new section, ‘Boris Prilutsky’s Blog.’ Boris is a very experienced therapist and clinician who has successfully practiced Medical Massage for decades in three countries, and he is a frequent contributor to JMS. We believe readers will enjoy and learn from Boris’ professional expertise.

In our Personal Opinion section, we published the article “S-spine vs. J-spine – Is There Any Merit in This Discussion?” written by Dr. Ross Turchaninov. It is the author’s personal opinion, but it presents alternative views on vertebral column arrangement, and the article’s goal is to trigger professional curiosity and discussion.

In the Science of Medical Massage section, we published Part II of “Oncology Massage Rehabilitation. Treatment Strategy,” in which Vanessa Sifontes continues a very important conversation about Oncology Massage Rehabilitation and how it helps rehabilitate and support the soft tissues of cancer patients while they are going through oncotherapy.

In our Case of the Month section, Mike Devo, LMT, who recently graduated from our Medical Massage Certification Program, shares his recent very interesting clinical case in the article, “Medical Massage vs. Soft Tissue Trauma.”

Finally, as usual, you will find a lot of helpful information in our Good Apples/Bad Apples section.
