Dear friends and colleagues,
Welcome to Issue #2 of 2013, JMS. We have prepared exciting issue for you, and we are hoping that you will find it helpful and resourceful.

Our Person of the Month is Juan Luis Ordaz Sabag from Mexico who has interesting story to share with our readers about his experience with medical massage.

In our “Opinion Page” section of the Journal, we publish the article; “Is Massage Industry In Crisis?” by Noel Norwick, LMT, NCBTMB, MBA. Some of you may disagree with Noel’s position but we found his article interesting, well-argumented and well-researched. This is what our “Opinion Page” is all about – to start up a meaningful exchange of ideas.

In the Therapeutic Massage Section, we have published a very informative article: “Four Strategies For Deep Tissue Massage” by Boris Prilutsky, MA, LMT. We think that article gives very important practical advices to correctly apply the deep tissue therapy.

In the Medical Massage Section, we finish the five-part article titled: “The Role Of Medical Massage In The Clinical Management Of Chronic Headache” by Dr. Ross Turchaninov and Dr. Ali Bipar. The final part of the article covers the treatment of secondary symptoms associated with Chronic Headaches.

In this section we also provide the link to free webinar developed by Gail Falzon, RN. Gail is a contributor to JMS and her original article “Craniofacial Pain Syndromes And Intra-Oral Trigger Points” in issue #3, 2011, was very well-received by our readers. She has now developed a webinar on the same subject, and we are happy to provide our readers with the link to it.

Our Case of the Month contributor is Curt Lezanic, LMT. His article: “Medical Massage vs Steroid Injections For The Treatment Of Styloiditis” illustrates his excellent clinical thinking and the fact that the real cause of the pathological symptoms is frequently hidden in a completely different part of the body. Finding the real cause of the problem is the foundation for quick and efficient therapy results.

As usual, in our “Good Apples/Bad Apples” section you may many helpful tips in our reviews of articles published in four major national massage publications: Massage & Bodywork Magazine, Massage Today, Massage Magazine, and Massage Therapy Journal.
Sincerely,

Dr. Ross Turchaninov,

Editor in Chief
