LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Welcome to Issue #1 of 2017. This issue starts our seventh year since publication of the first issue of the Journal of Massage Science in January of 2009. We appreciate the support of our readers from all around the world.  Here is the content of the current issue we hope you will enjoy:

Our Person of the Month is Carole Susan Jackson, BS, MA, LMT, NCTMB. 65% of our readers voted for her submission, “Medical Massage vs Hypersensitive TMJ,” as the winner of our Case of the Month Contest. In her interview, Carole shares with our readers her views, professional experiences and details of her practice.

At the end of each year we analyze articles which were published in four major American massage publications and reviewed in the Good Apples/Bad Apples section of JMS. It has become a tradition that in issue #1 of each year we announce the winner of our Appreciation Award for the massage publication which contributed the most to the clinical and scientific aspects of massage therapy.

In our News from the Clinic section we share with you interesting cases we’ve recently observed in our clinics in Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Antonio and Daytona Beach.

In our Sports Massage section, we are finishing publication of a Sports Massage article by Othon Molina, PhD, LMT. In Part II the author shares with readers the principles of rehabilitation of athletes after trauma.

In the Medical Massage section of JMS we published an interesting piece, “Medical Massage in Ophthalmology,” by Dr. Ross Turchaninov, which illustrates the range of massage therapy application in medicine.

In our Case of the Month section Susi Crawford, CMMP, LMT shares with readers her clinical case in a submission called “Medical Massage vs Shoulder Pain or Not?

As usual you will find a lot of helpful information in our Good Apples/Bad Apples section.

Dr. Ross Turchaninov, Editor in Chief
